Uraman consists of regions located at southwest of the province, includes a part of Sanandaj, Kamyaran and a large part of Sarvabad. Natural structure is the main feature of Uraman including high mountains, jungles and rivers. People in this region speak Urami (a Kurdish dialect). People are truly hard working because of the conditions and it could be seen in their everyday lives such as staircase architecture, staircase agriculture, pure beliefs and holding old rituals and ceremonies.

Wonderful Village of Uraman Takht

Although it has become a city in 2012 due to population increase and since Sarpir village has joined to Uraman Takht, but it still has the features of a village. This village as the center of Uraman is located at 65 Km of southwest of Sarvabad. People believe that this village has been the center of local rulers and the word “takht” means center and capital. This indicates the glory of the region. Now this village has changed into a region with 540 families. Its view is quite picturesque because of its staircase architecture. The village has a pyramid shape and there is a castle at the top of the pyramid. It is an important village for some reasons including annual ceremony of Pir Shaliar held in Spring and Winter, vegetation, Kurdish clothes, mystical music, hospitality, nomadic moves to high mountainous parts. To access this village you should pass through “Biyeh Kareh” Y-way, Dezli and Daraki villages. The roads are asphalted.

Zhivar Village

This beautiful village has a staircase texture, with dry stone architecture (stone without mortar). It is located on Uraman road towards Hajij village. Sirvan River makes it more beautiful. Ancients curved figures of stone, country sides that called “Hawar” in Kurdish are the attractions of this village. Every year a lot of visitors go there.

Annual Ceremony of Pir Shaliar Wedding

Pir Shaliar wedding is one of the common celebrations held annually, 45 days after winter, at the same time with Sadeh festival for two weeks in Uraman Takht. It celebrates the wedding anniversary of the legendary old man called “Shaliar” which is comes from myths, beliefs and rituals of the people in this land. It is celebrated by offering lives of animals such as cows and sheep, playing Daf and Sama (mystical dance), donating and offering food, blessing the Pir’s bead and shoes, making bread and at the end visiting his tomb.

These ceremonies attract a plenty of tours and travelers. Watching these celebrations in such a natural place with staircase architecture in a mountainous region among Urami people wearing local clothes is totally fabulous. They are important culturally and religiously. Many tourists, photographers, cameramen, researchers and foreigners visit these celebrations. It is worth mentioning that a celebration called “Komsay” in Pir Shaliar tomb in the middle of spring (April).
